I have a BS degree from Texas Tech University and received my teaching certification from Texas A&I Kingsville. I have been in education for the past 24 years. Eight years teaching 4th grade and twenty two years teaching 6th and 7th grade. I really enjoy being part of the "transition" for the 6th graders. It is a huge stepping stone for some of them. From my own experience, raising two boys, I know how important these years are. It is my goal to help make this experience go as smoothly as possible. One of the biggest hurdles in 6th grade seems to be organization. The students now have different classes as well as teachers, and it is overwhelming to some of them. We are trying to help the students out with this by having them keep an Interactive Notebook. This notebook has all of their work and any notes they have taken. If you need to know how your child is doing, all you have to do is look in their Interactive Notebook.
